Monaco and Finland-based film and TV production company Pig & Horse Productions islaunching a documentary arm with debut feature film Reflections of Gauguin currently in production. Produced by Johanna Poikelainen, with Pig & Horse Production’s Salla Kozma serving as exec producer, the film is represented internationally by Maria Kivinen’s Norse Key Studios Reflections of Gauguin traces a decades-long search for truth surrounding a mysterious painting bearing the signature ‘P Gauguin’. The canvas has been at the centre of Italian philanthropist Stefano Canepa’s life for almost 20 years. Scientific analysis indicates that its pigments and techniques align with Gauguin’s era, yet gaps in provenance have kept the work out of the official Catalogue Raisonné.
Finnish actor Salla Kozma, who founded Pig & Horse as a formats specialist in June, said: “Reflections of Gauguin unfolds as a cinematic thriller grounded in real-world events where crime, art and philosophy all intersect. It’s not merely a film about the question of art authentication but a story about corruption, power, and the human stakes behind the quest for truth.”
Alongside Reflections of Gauguin, Pig & Horse Productions has continued to expand its slate of socially impactful documentaries and non-scripted TV formats for global distribution, which includes the recently announced partnership with Time Out and the development of unscripted series, Europe’s K-Pop Odyssey and Audit My Relationship.
